Colloidal Silver Supported By Centuries Of Use
Friday, November 30th, 2007As we rediscover the supplements and remedies of our ancestors and label what has been used for centuries as “new age,” the wisdom of the ancients is being proven time and time again. One such agent that as recently been rediscovered is colloidal silver.
While many might believe colloidal silver and all of its beneficial properties were only recently discovered, this is far from the truth. The reality is colloidal silver and silver in general have been used for well over two thousand years for a host of healthful reasons.
Some of the documented and traditional uses of colloidal silver include:
Food preservation – From the ancient Greeks and Romans all the way through time to early Australian settlers, silver has been a known retardant of food spoilage. The Greeks used silver to keep liquids fresh, as did the Romans. The early Australians put silverware in their water tanks to keep it fresh. Silver coins have even been used to help preserve milk.
Medicine – Colloidal silver and silver leaf have long been used in the practice of medicine. In World War I, for example, leaf was used to fight would infections. In early Ayurvedic medicine, silver was used as an elixir to rejuvenate. Colloidal silver has been used as a natural bactericide for well over a century.
As is the case with many other healing agents and supplements, colloidal silver does have quite ancient roots. While the use of colloidal silver in modern times is only now being rediscovered, the ancients long held the properties of silver dear.
