Safety Of Colloidal Silver

With all the information available regarding the variety of pharmaceuticals and over-the-counter drugs on the market today it’s difficult to know where to turn in terms of understanding what is truly safe. Of course, we rely on our medical professionals to recommend or prescribe the appropriate medications for our needs. But it seems as though every day some new piece of information regarding long term use and side effects comes to light.

The same can be said, of course, for more natural products that are on the market such as colloidal silver. While enormously popular throughout the late 1800s and early 1900s, colloidal silver declined in use when antibiotics were introduced in the mid 1900s. Still effective – and widely popular – colloidal silver took a backseat to these new modern drugs and before long doctors no longer prescribed it.

Today, colloidal silver continues to be widely used because of its ability to fight infection and destroy bacteria. In fact, colloidal silver use is beginning to see resurgence even in the face of modern antibiotics. Not surprisingly, there is a vast amount of information regarding colloidal silver, and some of the information declares its use to be less than safe.

The fact of the matter is that colloidal silver use – just as with the use of any medication or substance – should be done in moderation and at the appropriate dosage. When taken properly colloidal silver is exceedingly safe and has not been shown to possess any toxicity.

Used responsibly, I’ve found colloidal silver to be wonderful in warding off infections and take it as a preventative whenever I feel like I’m coming down with something. It’s great stuff.
