Products that come to market and achieve any level of success are bound to be faced with competition in the way of sub-standard products that may use the name but don’t deliver the quality; such is the case with colloidal silver. For generations colloidal silver was the most widely used medicinal therapy and preventative – used to treat everything from colds and flu to more serious ailments. The mixture evolved from the earlier use of pure silver; as ancient societies quickly discovered the ability that silver had to ward off bacteria and prevent infection.

Colloidal silver is essentially comprised of microscopic silver particles that are suspended in water and given an electrical charge. Once ingested – or applied – colloidal silver can directly access the cells of the body and achieve powerful results. Colloidal silver is able to provide a second layer of support for the body’s immune system – providing nutrients to cells and ridding the body of unhealthy cells.

While the use of colloidal silver certainly lessened with the advent of modern antibiotics, its use has begun to rise once again as people look for more natural alternatives to pharmaceuticals. However, there are many products on the market that call themselves colloidal silver but do not deliver the quality ingredients that the name suggests. In fact, many of these products are actually silver compounds – referencing the use of additional proteins that are bound to the silver. Colloidal silver users in search of the real deal should look for products that contain only pure silver particles.
